@AdoraBelle Dearheart you gave me another excuse to talk about cories
Question was how to differentiate the albino variations, theyre all white right?
The most common albinos are:
Aeneus and paleatus, with sterbai a little less common.
There exists also a leucistic version of panda corydoras, plus are records of albino pygmaeus, similis, and rabauti as well... however I only own the more common 3.
Pygmaeus is unmistakable, very tiny sleek corydoras
Similis: short, rounded face, golden iridescence
Rabauti:
Short, chunky body
1) look at the body shape. The 3 common varieties are quite different in their body shapes.
Aeneus: appear almost bug-eyed in comparison of the other species, head is rounded, dorsal short and more round.
Paleatus: triangular tall dorsal fin, like a sail. Angular, long features. Face is long, almost horse like.
Sterbai: tall bodied, stocky fish. Round head.
2) Iridescence Pattern and Other Colouration
Aeneus: tend to be pink to gold tone to their white, Iridescence is a single large triangular patch from the pectoral fins to the tail, occasionally have a shiny gold stripe visible in the right light at the shoulder. Blue/gold shine to the cheek.
Paleatus: 3 separate broken blotches of light turquoise iridescence down the sides towards the tail. Often have a pink patch before the dorsal fin.
Sterbai: Shows faint spotting on face down the back, reminiscent of the pattern on a normal sterbai. Note deep golden pectoral fins and overall golden tone to the fish.
