i have been given a 105 lt tank witch came with a common pleco in he is approx 10 -12 inches long the tank is about 3ft long 1 ft wide ans 2 ft deep is he too big ??

Yes, this fish can reach a size of about 2 feet (normally under this). You are better off letting him go to a shop with the facilities to hold him or to another fishkeeper who has a tank big enough for him. But, There are many many replacement Pleco's that are more suitable for a tank that size, Bristlenose & Snowball's just two examples :good:

Fully grown about 5 inches :good:

thanks for the info i have seen a bristlenose earlier but need to say bye to the common first

No problems, hopefully you can find the common a nice home :good:

you need a 6ft tank for a common plec
because they grow fast
i have a common plec and have bought a 1000 pound tank its 4ft
and its gonna be two small so now i have to buy a 6ft tank because he is growing to big for the tank
when they get use to the tank they grow like mad.
so you can get a new tank or second hand tank which is 6ft or sell the fish to some one who has a tank big enough for him

My pleco has white spots by his head does he have ich

If the spots look like someone's sprinkled him with salt, then it's very likely to be Ich.

Use a medicine from your local fish shop rather than the high temperature/salt cure that some people recommend, as the plec won't tolerate the salt at all well.

Ich isn't hard to cure and doesn't normally kill fish, so he should be fine.
