Common Pleco

Hi,
I've been having some trouble with my fish so I wanted to post every bit of info I had so it will be easier to ID the problems...Please read THIS and post there if you find anything wrong i'm doing for my pleco...thanx in advance everyone!!!

You putting salt in with your plecs? No more salt, do a goodly water change and get some of it out, they are not good with salt and they don't like it. Their natural environment is very low in salt.

Sorry, it's far too late for me to work out what that lot means *lol* But was wondering, how many commons do you have? And do you know they can and will grow to up to 2ft+ ? They're not really the best for 10 gallon tanks.

Hope you get some help soon, maybe it might be worth posting a concise version rather than pages of info? For those of us who're easily confused....or is it just me? *lol*

I agree - the commons are going to need a much bigger tank. They can grow at a rate over over an inch a month (mine grew nearly 3" in a month and a half), and they make a lot of waste. How big are they now? I imagine because you bought them in a supermarket type petshop, they'll be small at the moment. Don't be fooled though, they'll soon shoot up in growth. From your other thread, your tanks are already overstocked - adding plecs that put a strain on the filters is going to end in tears I'm afraid
