Sorry guys just need a rant. Had a phonecall yesterday from one of the nurses from my vets, a friend has a common plec they want rid of and offered it to this lady, telling her it will only grow to the size of the tank, but its too big now for the first persons tank (dont know what size the tank is!). why oh why to people get suckered in to buying these fish by being told they will only grow to the size of the tank  . Needless to say this unwanted plec is comming here in the next couple of weeks, but I will have to re-home one of the other rescues first. I just get so annoyed they beautiful fish get treated like crap and used as an algae eating machine, just wish people would buy an algae scraper and do the job theirselves. No doubt this guy will be underweight too.
Rant over!

I agree with the algae cleaning bit. No matter how many Pleco's, Shrimps, Snails, SAE's or whatever you have in your tank, algae cleaning should be primarily a job for the keeper and not the fish!

agreed

this is all to common brought about by misinformation
and myth i wish there was a way to get people to understand
this as i used to end up with a lot of unwanted fish and equipment
i used to get called the fish man it was a good thing that they did come and see me in stead
of flushing like most of them were thinking of doing as i knew
places and people were i could place these unwanted fish they would
come and drop something of that was wrongly sold to them
and when thing started to go wrong they would come and see me
to take it away so i would let them have some guppies or endlers
something that was easy to look after
