I've just noticed today that my 7 inch common pleco was being attacked by my pair of kribs. I'm not sure if the kribs are just trying to defend their territory or not but the pleco's tail is getting torn up. They live in a 55 gallon tank and those three are the only fish that stay near the bottom of the tank. Any suggestions on what I can do so my pleco doesn't get beat up more? I have a spare 10 gallon tank that I can move the kribs into, but I would prefer to keep them all in the 55 gallon if possible.

Add a cave of some sort for the plec, on the opposite end of where the kribs like to hang out. Pvc pipe works well. I have a pair of kribs breeding in a 20 long, with a gold nugget plec. There is also a cave made from a piece if slate leaning on a rock for the plec to hide in.

Thanx for your suggestion. I do have a piece of driftwood that the pleco hangs out around in the other side of the tank, but the kribs go and snip at his tail there too. I will try putting in a cave of some sort and hope the pleco will take it as its own and defend the area more.

Kribs are prone to attacking pretty much anything, especially a breeding pair. A common Plec should be able to cope with this but as Tolak said, some hiding places for both species is essential.
