Hi,

I've had my plec for many years now, since he was about 1.5" some of you might remember me getting him, but lately he hasnt been eating. He has become very gaunt and I noticed today he is trying to eat the slime coating from my Pimelodus ornatus.

I have tried prawns, dilles, bloodworm, and cucumber but he just isnt interested. Everything else in the tank is fine though.

As well as being sickly skinny, his fins are all tatty which I put down to the lack in nutrients from food. I did lose a Sailfin plec which I had been given a few weeks back, could that have transfered some form of parasite? but with him sucking slime coat he is hungry.

thanks in advanced

try some butternut squash or apple mine always love this more than the cucmber
i lremove the skin from the squash and leave in the tank for 36 hours

try soaking the food in garlic, most plecs can't resist this.

I dont have any garlic or butternut squash, but I do have apples.

Now any type and I guess I just remove the seeds and skin?

just remove the skin and seeds and cut into a thick slice or quarter so they can sit on and munch it
only leave the apple in over night and remove in the morning as they go off quite quickly
