does anyone keep any common garden frogs in tanks i managed to catch 3 very small baby today and put them in a 2 gallon ill chuck them back in a couple of hours but there so cool, one just climbed up the wall then jumped and landed at the other end of the tank, thier water sits at 27C though

i also caught some small shrimp / baby crayfish im going to keep them in a jar with an airsupply and some strands of live plant see if they gain in size

as far as I know you are not allowed to keep native wild animals long term in captivity, (unless they are unable to go back to the wild, due to an injury etc). If they are crayfish then if they are native I believe they are protected and if they are signal crays you shouldn't re-release them as they are considered alien pests.

It's difficult with frogs, I think most of us have kept tadpoles for a while at some point in our lives, they are so interesting to watch, but I am a great believer that wild animals should be let free if at all possible, so though I once had a sick frog for a few months, I think that keeping native frogs is not right. If anyone wants frogs, dig a pond and make it frog friendly, add some frogspawn next year and sit back and watch - I do agree frogs are great, especially in their native enviroment.
