I have posted this question in the tropical chit chat without even realizing that there is a coldwater section to post.

Anyway, I have 3 comets ranging in size from 3 or 4 " to 6 or 7" I also have a black moor that is also quite big. I have had them for three years and until recently have had them in a 10 gal tank. Last week I put them in a new 55 gal tank and now I am wondering what (if any ) other types of fish may be good to add to my tank.

I am thinking of at least 1 medium size alge eater.

What kind of suggestions do you guys have:dunno: , any help would be greatly appreciated

There are quite a few coldwater fish that could be kept in that tank. Do you have any ideas yourself that we could advise you on?

Depending on your location here are some suggestions-

Gudgeons
Wheather/Dojo Loaches
Bitterlings
Golden Rudd
Golden Tench
Hillstream Loaches

and many more....

But in some countries or states you must have a licence to own fish like Bitterlings, Gudgeon or Wheather/Dojo Loaches. :)

As I said in the other version of this post, weather loaches would be ideal.

I think the hillstream loach might be too small and would get munched on by your monsters.

The gudgeon is a good idea, and if you live near a clean, shallow, fast flowing river, you can get them for free!

Don't get fish from the wild as they are likely to bring new diseases into the tank that will affect the current fish.

lionheads a good choice for a tank, bitterlings are ok no licence needed in the uk,some colourfull goldfish etc etc
Sorry bribones but a licence is now needed to own those fish, why don't you check the new fish list. Sadly alot of common species have now come under licencing in order to prevent release to the wild causing habitat destruction and competition with the native stock.

Here is a list of fish that now need a licence, I believe more have been added now or are currently under cosideration.
