Again a very hardy fish that has the potential to reach 22 inches/56cm.
The average life span is 20 years.
32-90 degrees F/ zero-32 degrees C

*Taken from types of goldfish* Pinned at top.

Comets love lots of swimming room, so a pond would be best for them.

Well as their total inches can reach 22inches a piece. And you want two so that would be 44inches total. So no smaller then a 55gallon area. The larger the better. A 55 gallon at the absolute miniumum I would say.

Fishkies,

You started off great but you can't use the 1" (fish-killing) rule with goldfish or any fish that gets over 3" as an adult so saying 44" of goldfish in a 55G tank would mean quick death to the goldfish.

Goldfish grow by eight times in body mass for each time they double their length. A 2" goldfish is equal to eight 1" goldfish. A 4" goldfish is equal to eight 2" or 64 1" goldfish. A 6" goldfish is equal to over 100 1" goldfish. An 8" goldfish is equal to over 500 1" goldfish. A single 12" comet is equal in body mass, eating requirements, pooping and ammonia production to over 1,000 1" goldfish... not 55 1" fish.

Two comets which typically grow to around 12" - 15" need a bare minimum of 75G each with lots of filtration but they are best kept in a pond where they have lots of room to swim around and even more water volume. If kept in a tank, the tank should be at least 6 times longer than the longest expected adult size so that means an 8' long tank.

a tank of at least 66" x 33" x 24" which would be 856.58ltr or 226.29 USG
in other words a pond
