Okay so I'm new to this forum. Ive been using fishlore, but wanted to get a second opinion. Does my neon tetra have columnaris or some other disease? Here are some pictures. Two images show the side where a brown/grey mark is and the other picture is his other side which is normal. I currently have him in a quarantine tank but he acts normal and he was eating when he was in the main tank. I have api furan-2 and seachem kanaplex coming but it will be a week or two. I worry it may be neon tetra disease. Sorry for such a long post, just dont want all my fish to be wiped out.

What size tank?
Ammonia?
Nitrite?
Nitrate?
Gh?
How long have you had the tank running?
How long have you had the fish?
How long ago did you notice symptoms?

Do any other fish show the same symptoms?

How often do you do water changes and how much water do you change each time?

About a month now
I've had 3 guppies and 3 neons then added 7 more neons. All the fish besides one of the new neos are showing symptoms.
I do around 30% water changes weekly or lower.

@Colin_T may be able to help.
Colin do you get annoyed with all of the people (me especially) tagging you in disease posts?

For now do a 75% water change now, and daily for the next 2 weeks, this may help slow the spread

I don't even bother looking at them. I wait till they hit 100 and then click it to reset them back to 0 :)

I can't tell anything due to the blurry pictures but if the blue line is fading, it's probably neon tetra disease, which is caused by a bacterial infection, but it's a different species of bacteria to what causes Columnaris. If it's neon disease, they will need treating with anti-biotics.

Has the patch spread?
How many of the fish have it?

Try daily water changes as suggested by JuiceBox and add 2 heaped tablespoons of rock salt, sea salt, or swimming pool salt for every 20 litres (5 gallons) of tank water. Keep the salt in there for 2 weeks and see if it helps.
When you do water changes, add salt to the buckets of water before they go into the tank so the salinity (salt level) in the tank remains stable.

Nothings fading there's just a brown/grey streak on him. It's not as big as it was, and he's in a quarantine tank. No other fish are showing symptoms. I have api furan-2 and seachem kanaplex coming in a week or two. I highly doubt its neon tetra disease as he shows no symptoms of it besides the mark. I'll try the salt and do water changes

Neon disease spreads rapidly and usually kills the fish within 24 hours of the blue line fading. If it hasn't spread and is getting smaller, it might be physical damage (something bit the fish) and it is healing.

If the patch is healing (getting smaller) and the fish is still eating well and swimming normally, do not use medications on it. Just give it clean water and let it recover.

Okay I'll watch the patch and see if its decreasing. I dont know if it is for sure but it looked like it was when I check (its hard to see because hes being quarantined in a plastic container that's not clear at all).

An update. I put the fish in something clearer to see it and he's really pale with fin rot (or his fins have always been torn but I dont think they have been). I'm starting to think its NTD because all the symptoms are lining up, turning white, fin rot, and he has the mark on him. All my other neons look safe for now. I know NTD isnt curable but I'll ride it out and see what happens to the sick neon. I hope I dont lose my neon's.

We used tetracycline to treat neon disease. It's an anti-biotic and can be used if it is neon disease. But a proper identification needs to be made before using any anti-biotics because they cause drug resistant bacteria that kill people, animals birds and fish.

Can you post a couple more pictures of the fish?
