Do they go in freshwater? I read a bunch of places where people keep them in fw. But then I read a bunch of other places where they keep them bw. I have them in sg .990. What can you tell me about this fish? I know a ton of people on here know a lot. Tell me ANYTHING please. I'd like to know what sg to keep them at. Thanks every1!

I keep 2 in a brackish tank with a SG of 1.010 and imo they are far more active and have bigger appetites when kept this way then in FW. As Teelie has pointed out they are a migratory species that are born in FW and then make their way down stream as they grow until they enter full sea water, only returning to freshwater to breed. They should be kept with other migratory species which share the same need such as Mono's, Scat's, and moray eels (Gymnothorax tile) so that the SG can be increased over the years as they grow, although full marine conditions of 1.020 do not need to be met it is recomended that these fish be kept at a level between 1.010 and 1.015. Due to the large size and ammount of waste created by predatory fish a protein skimmer is recomended on brackish tanks containing shark catfish.
