So i have seen these Columbian Shark Catfish in my local pet shop. I have a 6ft tropical tank. I bought 2 of them and added them into my tank i then did some googleing and found out that when they get to adult size then need to go from a tropical tank to a marine tank is this true ? My local pet shop had them labled wrong.
I took them back to the pet shop and told them that i don;t want them in my tank for a year or two and then when they get to adult size they die on me because of no salt water.
I read some were that they cna lvie in salt water and fresh water.
So when they get to adult size do they need to be in a salt water tank ?

I don't know about full salt but certainly they are definitely NOT freshwater fish, they ARE brackish water!

Adults live in saltwater. They breed in brackish water and young live in freshwater then return to saltwater.

In asian countries where some species are eaten, shark catfishes are known as cream dory or pangasius are bred in large quantities in muddy, fully freshwater fishponds.
