I was led to believe that the female Guppy was plain and the male was colourful.
I bought my guppies like that and they bred (heh, and then some). I was looking in my tank to night and what I thought was a male guppie looks more like a female.
Anyone have any ideas?

Ive seen female guppies in my LFS that were colourful but I was told that they were specially interbred to look like that.

Well. I haven't even tried to do that and there she/he?/it is.

I don't know how they get colorful females but I was just at walmart today and saw a bunch of really colorful females, their tails were beautiful! But I bought a male instead, since I've never seen anything that looked like him before, and I only had enough for a guppy and an ADF :/

From what I've read colorful females throw off really colorful fry. But that's just what I've read...

all my females used to get really colourful because i bred them with full body coloured males. even the 4 month old fry have now got there colours and gravid spots
