I got a female betta over the weekend. I put her next to one of my males and he would flare and flare, and she would look and then pretty much ignore him. When I got home today, I looked in at Matrim and he had lost a lot of his color! I thought maybe it was because the little female was ignoring him. I moved her away, and now about an hour later, most of his color has returned. Strange.

He was probably just tired from all that flaring... if you have another female betta try to breed her with your male and see how it goes

i believe neons are fin nippers and don't usually go too well with teh bettas..how big is the tank that he's living in?

he probably is just tired from the flaring, or it could be the tempreature. Bettas will lose their color and become listless if the temperature bcomes too cold, and perk up again when the tempreature is in good range again.
