I'm suprised I didn't ask this two years ago when I had goldfish... but why did my goldfish change from green (comet) to pale orange, and the same with my black moor?

Not sure about the first one, but the black moors are meant to be black, yet mine took on a golden color on the sides... They weren't really all that sick either, though Ihad originally thought that that was the cause...

black is unstable as a colour for goldfish. most blackmoors will turn a brassy orange over time and some even go completely orange. its all down to breeding, the black adults you see are usually the better bred fish and retain the black for longer. feeding them colour enhancing food and a couple hours of sun usually help to retain the colour, but genetics usually dictates when and if they turn orange.
as for the other fish, goldfish as they mature are constantly changing hue and sometimes complete colour changes.
