Color Change In Bristlenose

My Bristlenose was a nice dark color as he grow his color is fading out to a cream color. Is this common? Does food cause color change?

stress is normally what causes them to go light...

Sorry no pictures. Moved stuff around and have added more places to hide and more plants. So I'll see what happens. Thanks for your help.
