Well I've got to say this was the most nerve wracking thing I've had to do with the lil thing and I honestly thought that I'd lost him. Really had to be done though as he wasn't eating properly and was beginning lost weight.

Preperation:

2 large containers (at least 3 liters) both filled with tank water.

1 Jar of Clove Oil

1 Dropping Pipette

1 Net

Well I caught the bucktooth fella and placed him in the first container of water. I then added a drop of clove oil to the water, now being an oil this doesn't mix easily so I agitated the water with my hands but there was no visible effect. Another drop of oil again, no affect. On the 3rd drop he started getting really sluggish and then stopped completetly. Removed him from the water onto a wet piece of plastic and quickly clipped the beak evenly with a thin set of nail scissors.

I placed him back in the bucket of fresh water and ... well he turned belly up and started sinking, I was beginning to panic by this stage so using the net I gently moved him around in the water until I started to see gill movement, but that was about it. I then put him in the tank but kept him in the net still gently moving him around. Well the fins started moving, then the tail started but very slowly, he started swimming albeit with no sense of direction at all so I kept him safe in the net.

Finally after about 5 minutes he swam away from then net and around the tank. Fed them all some blood worm which he devoured with a passion.

Not sure whether it normally takes that long to come around from the "anesthetic" or whether I came close to overdosing, I've got another couple to do this week so I'll try to use less quantities and see how it goes, I'll try to get some pictures put up next time as well.

Checked on him today and he's back to his old self... me well I'm still shaking

well done lith and nice to see you posting again, i must say that doesnt sound like a operation id be keen on having to do

Well done Lithril  , Quite the nerve wracking job eh? Mine started to have a little spasm the first time I did a clipping, so don't be surprised if one of your others does this. I think it's harder on the dentist than the patient. :D
