I have some Colombo Florabase planting substrate available for sale. Some of it is dry and completely unused, and the rest has been in my tank for 1 week but I have yanked most of it out and decided to go a different route. The stuff that was in the tank has been drained of most of its water and is "moist" not sopping wet. Its only been in the tank just under a week so will still have plenty of its nutrients as I only had a couple of bunches of plants in there for about 2 days !!

DRY/unused: 2.75L (a 2.5L bag is between £11 and £13 new)
MOIST/barely used: Approx 10L (a 10L bag is between £30 and £35 new)

If you take the lot you can have it for £25 including p&p subject to confirming delivery prices against your postcode.

Thats about £50 worth of substrate for half price.

I know there are plenty of aquascapers who like this stuff, so I thought I would list it up. Theres really nothing wrong with it and I have done start of the work for you by getting rid of the large ammonia spike ;)

How much for the dry stuff only?

If you want the dry only it would be £11.50 Only £5 of which I would actually see because of the postage :( But you save a few quid and I get some back so happy to do that if you want ?

Ill take it all if the previous guy does not take the dry stuff. Just PM me if you don,t sell it. Would rather have the whole lot.

Any further interest on this, have the above dropped out? If so, ill likely take it. How much would you say was required to do out a 80ltr, is there enough there?

SOLD mate thanks. But depending on how thick you want it and what the footprint was on your tank it would have been about right I reckon.

Let me know what dimensions your tank is and whether you just want a flatbed substrate or whether you intend banking up at all to do a sloped 'scape' and I will show you the calculation to work out what you need.

[Couldnt think of a single word that would pass the filter to fit here  :saddam: :eek:sama: ]
Always Late!

Footprint is 24 x 12 (odd, 17 tall.. ) currently covered in sand but since ive got some nice plants growing, i should probably just make the shift, and that was cheap :)

Might want a slight slope up to one back corner, ive got some nice wood (^_^) in there a there at the mo, a few anubias covered caves, and a healthy 3 tennisballs of moss in the 4ft i could trim to donate to the build, just need to switch to external filter, plan plan is then more plants, and Co2.

Any help you can offer would be awesome!

Cheers! Ben

Sorry Ben. Anyway...
I am assuming your measurements are in inches, so I will bring them into the 21st Century ;)

24" x 12" is 60cm x 30cm

So for a flat 6cm base you need

(60 x 30 x 6) / 1000 = 10800 / 1000 = 10.8 Litres (and now you will have no more words that will pass the filter cos thats about exactly what I had !!)

You would have say 3 to 4cm at the front and sides allowing you to gently bank some up at the back.

Sorry I don't have it for you still, but at least you know what you need.

If you do get it (and if I get this stuff or ADA in the future) I would consider buying a 5L bag and topping the rest with the smaller grain that you get in the 2.5L bags. So for Florabase in your tank I would go for 1 x 5L and 3 x 2.5L which you could do for about £50. OR In ADA, 1 x 9L regular and 1 or 2 x 3L powder. which would cost £35 for the 9L (not much difference to the 10L bag of florabase) and then £24 per 3L bag of powder (its not powder its just small ADA granules) so £60 to £85

Grrrr [Is about all that will pass!]

Ive missed some awesome bargains!

Cheers for all of the above info! I definately need to make the switch. May pick up a storage bin at the weekend as a temp home for the corys and rasbora, and get to it :)

Will have a look around the LFS thisw weekend as not all stock much substrate. One of my local MA's only ever seems to have sand or gravel in, P@H doesnt seem to stock it at all! Might even have to make a trip to World of Water!

Thanks gaain for your help with this, you'll be seeing me in the plantd section a bit more moving forward!

Cool, good to hear. Good luck. Give the guys at TGM a ring and chat to them about substrate. They do deliveries for cheap cost.
