:/ THE PERSON AT THE PET STORE WHO SOLD MY WIFE A FEW GOLDFISH INSISTS THE TANK BE KEPT AT 70 DEGREES. DO GOLDFISH NOT THRIVE IN COOLER WATER? THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN THIS MATTER.

Totally fine at 70F, mine were at 73F for a time in a smaller tank. I do not heat the water or anything. Many people heat fancy goldfish water a little.

I'd be more worried about what size tank they recommended. That's always their worst failure.

:)

I've been told/read that goldfish thrive at a temp of 67 degrees if this is any use..
fortunately most room temps will ensure that this temp is acheived in an unheated tank.

I have recently swapped my cold water set up for a tropical tank but i never heated my tank, my oldest goldfish which my nephew is now looking after has just had his seventh birthday, best advise is give them plenty of room, vary their diet and theyll be fine :D
