Coldwater Tank And Rocks.....

help we are having a chat about rocks for new coldwater tank. and its getting a bit heated . i have a collection of geodes they are rocks with crystals in they look amazing and i put them in the tank wow look even better. hubby not happy he says that they will leach iron into the tank from the stone casing of the mineral crystals. so can anyone help us ? are these lovely things safe to use in a cold water tank which i must add is empty and i have just set up to run for a week or two before i go looking for fish to live in it. or will they as hubby sugests leach excess minerals iron/ copper etc

As far as I am aware geods are not recommended for use in fish tanks.
