A friend of mine is having some issues with his new goldfish, well, his dad's fish.

What is a treatment for fish lice?

there is a treatment called de-los that can kill them. if you cant find that then most lfs have treatments for crustacean parasites.

If the fish is large and the infestation light, the lice can be picked off with tweezers. Or a potassium permanganate bath of 10mg per litre for 10 to 30 minutes can be used. To treat the whole tank, use 2mg per liter but this is very messy and dyes the water.

you may wish to keep your eye out for a secondary infection, I hade lice in one of my tanks and lost over 80% due to secondary infection.
