Besides the large amount of goldfish and koi varieties. heres a list of coldwater fish i have found from various websites and books, for those who wish to have cold temperture living fish other than goldfish and koi.
The most common found are:
Black Bullhead (Ictalurus melas)
Bowfin (Amia calva)
Channel Catfish (Ictalurus punctatus)
Hi-Fin Banded Shark (Myxocyprinus asiaticus)
Shovelnose Sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus platorynchus)
Weather Loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus)
White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes)
Hi-Fin Banded Shark A peaceful bottom-dweller that originates from China. It should be kept in pairs and in a tank min. of 120 US gallons. The dorsal fin in large as a juvenile and has black lines running vertical on it's tanish body. The adult is much larger (around 3ft. in the wild) and is much "uglier." A powerful filtration system is needed to keep this fish healthy, and the water should be fast-flowing. This fish is always in continuous search of food, and will sift through the substrate, looking for food and acting as a fairly good scavenger. It should be kept in an aquarium with a temperture of 62-75° F.

A peaceful bottom-dwelling Loach. It can live happily in tropical conditions as well. you should keep it with other peaceful community fish only, and provide lots of hiding areas and a soft, sandy substrate, with a temp. of 50-75° F. These fish are very long (around 8") often confused for Eels.

Most native fish in your area(if you live in Great Britain, USA and other "cold" areas should also go nicely in your aquarium. In the USA, you could possible have a channel cat, Sunfish and minnows. Or in Great Britain, Stickle backs are an amazing addition to any cold-water aquarium.
