hi all just a quick q
want to do a planted tank :hyper: but i would like to put the co2 in the celler,so can you run micro bore copper pipe from the co2 vaulve about 30 feet under the floor and come up behind the tank, then add the co2 tubeing to the fish tank :good:

If you are planning on invertibrates, then NO you cannot use copper.... how about some "RO" tubing ? (rigid plastic)
I use silicon airline... maybe you could use that as a liner in the copper, if you already have that !

cheers rooster, never though about useing rigid plastic tubeing .just with having grand kids  want to keep it safe :good:

Sorry rooster, but thats a bit wrong-ish.

Carbon dioxide is a pretty stable compound, and will not readily react with copper pipes. Infact you're more likely to get reactions from plastics. As long as the copper piping bit is ended before there is any chance of the tank water coming into contact with it - then its a sound plan.

If you ran a section of copper piping, then reached a valve and ran hosing from that point onwards then problem solved.

If you were at all concerned about possible contamination from the copper piping, then by all means run some hosing through the pipe, and use the pipe as protection from children with scissors!

Have a look on laboratory supply websites at gas line hosing etc. Their prices are likely to be cheaper than LFS.
