I was browsing through a lfs in the marine section (as I'm planning on setting up a tank sometime this year) and one of the tanks with corals for sale in it had the doors to the sump open. Down there was a CO2 cannister and I was wondering if CO2 is actually used in the salt aquarium? I wasn't sure if it was down there for storage purposes or if it was actually hooked up to one of the tanks, so any insight would be appreciated.

This threw me for a loop, since I thought I had done quite a bit of research already!

CO2 is used in a calcium reactor to lower the pH so it dissolves the Calcareous media within.
