Evening folks, sorry to bring up something that Im sure has already been discussed a million times but the words Im trying to search for contain less than four letters (CO2, D & D).

Im wanting a CO2 system for my 33Gal apisto planted tank but Im rather overwhelmed with the various options on offer.

So heres a simple question....

Can I get better than this D and D Co2 Set for around the same price (less than 100 quid)? http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/catalogue/co2_systems.asp (its the 4th product down).

Im thinking this would be a better choice for a few reasons one of whichis that it has a solenoid which is something I would probably end up getting at some point.

Any opinions?

Thanks!
Mark

p.s Any idea why there minimum number of letters in the search function? Ive came to a stand still a few times because of this. Not a complaint, just a query!

I think you would be much better scrolling on down a bit and investing in the JBL pressurised setup for a few qiud more.

Cheers for the input! Are you talking about the JBL Vario 500 Profi Set 1? Why do you think this is the better choice? Going on the description it has no bubble counter and Id need to fork out an extra 40 thousand odd quid for a solenoid.

To search for small words, use google. Ie to search for CO2, in google type: co2 site:fishforums.net

As for which CO2 to buy, have you looked around locally to see if you can get CO2 refilled? The D&D set you are looking at uses disposable CO2 canisters. Do you know where you can get these from?
The JBL sets use a refillable bottle. Some places will fill these up for you but best to check first. Some maidenhead aquatics swap the bottles, they dont actually refill yours ( meaning your nice shiny new canister can be exchanged for a rusty old one...) Another thing to look out for is Maidenhead aquatics, and maybe some other places, will only refill/swap JBL bottles, not other makes.

I think when deciding what's best to buy, check locally and see what your options are to get it refilled/buy new disposable canisters. This will be the deciding factor i think.

the D&D system is crap i`ve had mine set up 3 days and it leaking but god knows where from, and as it came with a european plug for the solenoid, that i then cut off and replaced with a english plug. i can`t even return it :(

Ive got a D&D regulator attatched to a 2kg CO2 fire extinguisher and its great. No problems at all. Got the regulator off ebay for £45 and spent £30 for the extinguisher.

Hi Ive got the D+D setup had no problems at all with it.

Try This site http://www.paraquatics.co.uk/en-gb/dept_123.html

If you scroll down it also sells an adapter which converts regulators valves from disposable bottles to refillable bottles for £5.99. Whilst your using the disposable you have time to scource a bigger refillable bottle :good:

Hope it helps :good:

Thank you all for the help! This forum is fantastic. The last few Ive joined were mostly American. Which isnt a problem until you ask for hardware advice. Nice to have to get advice thats confined within our coastline.

Now, decisions decisions.
