In my CO2 ladder i keep getting a whispy mist that stops the bubbles coming out properly and rising. They coe out and the first "rung" builds this stuff up until when there are 5 or 6 bubbles there they finaly have enough pressure to continue to rise.

Anyone have any reasons / tips for this? currently i have to either get a toothbrush and clean it or take it out and wipe it every few days :X

Simon.

 The same happens to mine. I just run my fingers across the bars every few days. Annoying a bit....
Would love some tips too.

yeah, sometimes fingers can't get right to the back so only taking it out will so - i dont mind, but its a lot less hassle if there's something i can do ;)

Thats chamical reaction from those stupid chamical :(. I hate them too but now I get use to it everything when I change water clean up time :) ur hand will be wet any way when doing water change.

i have been experimenting with mine the past few weeks. i find if you fill with less water the problem is greatly reduced (1 inch below the fill line) you end up with a cleaner flow of co2.

i found that when filling to the top fin with a diy mixture you end up with little bubbles of mixture entering the pipe for the first 5/10 inches or so. hence increacing the build up at the other end.

it will always build up to some extent but should stay clear for at least 2 weeks between cleaning is necessary again and yes the turkey baster is a real easy way to clear the rungs when you need to. Also make sure your tube is totally clean when you refill the cannister.

to clean the tube detach it from the canister lid leaving the ladder end of the tube in the tank and suck on the tube top start a syphon.

within 5 mins you'll have a sparkleing clean tube again (and a handy water change in the process).

hope that helps

good tip, thanks!

no probs. oh and obviously the draw back is it runs out a little quicker. i tend to refil every week anyway to keep the co2 level constant so doesn't bother me in the slightest
