I set mine up yesterday afternoon. It's a kit I bought from the LFS, attached the bubble ladder, added the igredients to the canister, set it up and.... nothing.

No bubbles at all. I currently have the canister higher than the tank (CO2 is heavier than O2 isn't it?) but there's nothing coming through at all.

Any suggestions?

I would try it the other way around, tank higher than canister, sorry i dont know about DIY set-ups as i have a pressurized system though you could ask gf225

It's not DIY, I'm a bit lazy, but it's basically the same. It's supposed to be cliiped to the back of the tank at water level, but there's not enough room for it to go there, so it's in temporary spot on some shelves.

Sorry, what i ment is clean it all out and start again this time temp put it below the water level and leave for a few hours to see if anything happens just to eliminate the possabillity that that could be the problem, if not then take it back to where you got it from

Maybe the prob is the gas cannot push down and that is why it is not working

give it a go, what you got to loose :/

Having the pressure vessel above the tank will prevent siphoning of the tank into the CO2 chamber but might cause the yeast mixture to flow into the tank (not good). Get a one way valve (check valve) for safety's sake and place the container slightly below the water level. Under pressure the CO2 will flow up, down and around corners. If there's pressure the gas will get out. My system was over a metre below water level and it had no problems. The yeast can produce explosive pressures if the gas can't escape. That's a hint to make sure it can escape!.
Don't forget that the yeast is a LIVING organism (well technically billions of them) so the way you set the system up is important. If the water was too hot you'll have killed the yeast (no CO2). If the water was too cold the yeast takes ages to activate and produce CO2. Give it a bit of time. If nothing's happened in a day or so mix up a new batch, following the instructions to the letter. Use your fish thermometer to make sure the water you add to the yeast is approx 30 - 40 celcius. that should do it.
