Hi,

I think I may try adding Co2 to my tank to help the plants as they aren't doing well.

The Vallis is a bit yellow & doesn't look too healthy & I have lost a few other plants I have added over the past few months.

However, I have read somewhere that Co2 injection & Pl*co's don't mix. So, does anyone have any comments on this?

Many thanks,

Russ

My plec doesn't seem to mind.

But remember that the water at the bottom of your tank (where plecs spend a lot of their time) will hold less O2 that at the surface where gas exchange occurs. Adding more CO2 to the tank can therefore be hard on bottom dwelling species (corys etc.) which is why I also aerate the water in my tank 24/7.

That way, O2 rich water is always being cycled around and won't affect the CO2 content too much as CO2 is harder to dissolve/exsolve into/from water than O2.

I have a pleco and co2 in one of my tanks and have never had a problem with either of them. The yellow on your plants is most likely a iron defficency and need more light too.

I don't really undestand co2 injection. If your treying to aereate your water (With an airstone) why inject co2 aswell? I know it helps the plants but why not just not aereate in the first place?? Don't the two (aereation and co2 injection cancel each other out) Thansk for the help guys :D
