What is you're current DIY setup? I'd go with option 2....

2 litter bottle with yeast mixture small air line leaning into a small 500cl bottle airline leading up 2 tank with a none return valve. atm i am just using a airstone but that was just to check if my system was airtight and atualy worked. needless to say it does.
I liked the idea of number 1 as you can see the bubbles getting smaller as the co2 mixes plus you can propely count the bubbles, but number 2 does work on a similar basis but with a added diffuser on top.

My yeast mixture (incase you were wondering) is
2 cups water
2 cups Sucrose (cane sugar)
¼ teaspoon Fleischmann's Active Dry Yeast
¼ cup tepid (ideally 104ºF) water

Oh right never thought of that! How long would one of the mixtures last? What size tank do you have?

125 Litter. mixture can last from 10-20 days but i have not had my tester running that long. its being running for 5 days now and still producing plenty of co2.

so you would recommend number 2

Brilliant so I'd need to systems in my 250 ltr tank? Would you upload a pic or did you follow a guide on here?

This is were i got the idea from. I will upload some pics at the weekend maybe if i can find my camera cable. lots of different ideas on how to do it tho.

if you scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page it shows the idea i followed.

:good: :good: orderd number 2 :good: :good:

number 3 would IMO be best.

Fishtankcrazy, don't bother setting up DIY C02 on a tank of 250lts, it would be a complete waste of time. You'd need at least four 2 litre bottles. The C02 that DIY produces is very unstable as you're not getting a steady stream of C02, which leads to algae growth.

Normally in the planted side we wouldn't set DIY up on anything more that 8 gallons.

i really should have thought to post on the planted side. Completely forgot about your lot (sorry) Already ordered number 2 now

its not a bad one mate, i just prefer the 3rd one. Its a bit smaller.

ow cool cheers for the heads up. will be placed around the back so size is not really a prop. I will ask you as you are from the planted side. Would you recommend placing it on the bottom under the filter out let (top of the water line) to push the co2 infused water around the tank more or would that be detromentle as the co2 would be more likely to leave the water as it is more turbulent.

Ah right! Thanks for the heads up! :) what about the diy fire extinguisher co2 guide I've seen?

Alex, yes under the outlet pipe is the preferred method ( at the bottom near the substrate)

fishtankcrazy, pressurised co2 would work a lot better in your tank, give it a good read thouh first though, I'm on my phone at the min or I'd link you the thread from the planted section, it's in the pinned bit at the top of the planted section
