Ok, I'm going to say they're about to mate but can someone give some advice, I've looked on the Internet but no one has written about this type of behaviour!!

Ok so here's the story. I have two clowns, had them since they were babys, about 10months on now.
I have three anemones, 2 malu's and a bubbletip. Malu's been in ages and clowns have lived there for a long time now. The bubbletip has been around about 6months, clowns have never had an interest. The second malu is new, had a pedal foot damage, but seems to be ok now, and appears happy, coloured up already! Doing well.

So first they moved to the bubbletip after months and months of being in their malu. Then they went from the bubbletip to the new malu. Then they went back to the old one, and then they went to all of the anemones! Then after a week they settled with the new anemone. Still going to their old one if it deflates, to puff it up. Now the male clown is being very aggressive to any fish that comes near the anemone.

The female lays very still in the anemone and then goes for a swim with the male and then repeats. Whilst the female lays there, the male swims around guarding her.

So are they about to spawn or have they gone crazy!!

Hoping Nemo is still around as she has had success with clowns spawning, but haven't seen her here for ages!

Clown fish, they are 2 false perc's. They have always got on fine with other fish but they're beginning to be very angry..

I have been MIA lately :(

Have seen mine do similar, but not as far as I know and have seen, not a behavior of spawning, unfortunately. How big are your clowns?

Hey Nemo, good to see you here again!! :) what's MIA??

Yeh really weird behaviour, spawning was the only thing I could think of!! Any ideas why they're being weird Nemo??

They are really being aggressive to anyone that goes near them, they're normally really happy with other fish nd nothings changed in my tank at all. They're even horrible to my Emporer Cardinal who likes to swim next to their anemone. When I say horrible, they chase him away and nip him.

Literally nothing has changed in my tank for months nd this behaviours just started. They're about 3inches +

Hi Lewis

My clowns do exactly the same thing, in my nems - I dont think your clowns are old enough for spawning yet :good:

Thanks!! No idea why they're just decided to be lil buggers about it. Female just lays in the nem not moving, whilst the male swims all over it. Guess women are the lazy ones!! ;)
