Hey
I got a torch coral 2 days ago. Just how long does it take clown fish to start hosting in the coral. I know you cant say exactly 3 days, but as a rough idea...months, one week? Also, with feeding, do i just turn off all the powerheads and squirt some mysis at it for it to eat? And, i know they arent supposed to be getting alot of flow but theres enough to see certain tubes move gently from side to side. How long should it take for its tentacles to fuly extend?
This is it at night under actinic lighting (during th day the tubes are out more)

Is the current too strong or anything?
Cheers.

There are no guarantee's a clown will host a particular coral or anenome. I have a thin fingered leather coral, which has bare rock in the centre and would provide an excellent home/breeding area. My clowns couldn't give a monkey's about it lol. When I saw it in the shop I though.... "Perfect" ... yeah.. how wrong was I ??

The only thing that gets "hosted" is my other finger coral, which both the cleaner shrimp sit on.

The flow looks fine.

Have a read up on the liveaquaria link. Its a good site for info on particular corals and fish too. They warn about this coral and placing it near others.

Provide plenty of room between the Euphyllia Torch Coral and other sessile animals, since at night, its sweeper tentacles can extend up to several inches from its base and sting other coral species.

dont expect anything, could be three days, or could be until they die and they lie down on the torch coral as it eats them.....

Are the night lights actinic or moon?

Agreed, clowns are about as tempermental and picky as women. At least I'm usually pretty confident that women appreciate gifts of jewlery, but even that's got some room for error. Same way with clownfish. We think they'll like what we've given them to host, and then they tell us that we "weren't listening" to them and scoff in the corner at you

Lol Ski!
Well Musho, its those interpet PC lights, had blue moon actinic written on them. Its on this site here, just scroll down abit http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/catalogue...ct-lighting.asp
It says it can be used for nighttime viweing (i only have it on for an hour at night cause it so bright) and i use it before the daytime lights come on, then they go off and come on at 1 pm.
The blue moon comes on at 9 am and goes off at 11am, then the daylights come on at 11, and go off at 10. The blue moon comes on again at 1 pm and goes off at 11 pm
