Well since my Clowns have managed to kill off most of my favourite corals by hosting them I decided enough was enough and set up a cube tank for them (which was original planned as a seahorse tank, stupid clowns).

Anyway last night we had the fun of trying to catch them. The B&W clown was no hassle at all. Took less than 30 seconds. The Orange clown though has been moved through more than 4 tanks and is wise to what the net is. Over the course of about 2 hours we tried everything to catch him (two people, 4 nets and one very smug clownfish).

Lyn has been trying again today but with no more success :) So going to have a go with a bottle trap before I resign myself to removing the rockwork.

What makes it worse is that as soon as you move away from the tank he comes straight to the front at the top of the water where he would be easy to catch. Its like he is taunting us :)

Anyway no real point to this post. Just thought it was funny that 2 grown adults couldn't catch one little clownfish :)

we had the sma eproblem when trying to catch 2 blennies. one was in the trap and caught straight away. the other, obviously having seen his mate get caught wised up, and wouldn't go near the trap. after a week of trying to catch him, we gave upo and stripped the tank down to get at him! :shout:

i feel your pain!

haha funny little brat....my mom went through the same thing a few years back when she was told to cycle her tank with damsels...then trying to get the nasty things out was a nightmare!

At least they didn't bite you as well  have you tried a pint glass, they cant see it and sometimes just swim straight in if you put some brine shrimp in there!

i always feed my fish from a net. the come swimming upto it expecting food then :hey:

That's a brilliant idea! Might start doing that as it conditions the fish to not be afraid of the net.

We didn't feed them yesterday and when I got home from work I tried a bottle trap with a cube of mysis in. He swam up, took a look and the buggered off again! Will try it again tonight and maybe try a different colour/shape bottle.

when i tried catching my clowns to measure them i wasnt even able to catch one, they helped each other escape and hid behind all the rocks.... i got fed up and then they just swim on up to the front, the little monsters

Just as an update we did manage to catch him with the bottle trap in the end. Took almost two days of not feeding him before he got hungry enough to go into it.
