Hi there ;)

I was at my Ifs today returning my Bristlenose which had sadly passed away a few days after i bought it. I was going to get another but they were out of stock. I looked around and noticed a new shippment of clown plecs and wanted to research them, and possibly get a pair for my 50gal. Currently i have a 4" green severum, two 3" Clown barbs and one 3" Blue gourami. I have a sand substrate with plenty of bog-wood and more than adequate filtration as ive read they can be messy fish. Any help would be great!! :D

Clown plecos are nice little plecs, and will thrive if you have plenty of bogwood etc. However, as they only get to about 3.5 - 4", I would suggest getting 3, They will be much more active together as they are a naturally shoaling species of plec. This way you get to enjoy them more rather than just watching them sitting under a bit of wood all day :)

Thnx bunjiweb .. They have a tank full of them so i can get 3-4. Do you think they will be ok with the current fish in the tank? Thnx again for the help B)

Thnx Ryan...actually your post was the second thing i checked after planet catfish.. :p .. I'm really just wondering about compatability with my current fish. :D

Should be no problems at all, plecos this size rarely get terratorial, and arent bothered by all other fish, unless you have an overcrowded tank bottm, but you certainly dont by the sounds of things.

No in fact they will be the only bottom dwellers of the tank...Thank's for all the info and help guys!! :D

actually - most small plecs are quite teritorial... too much testosterone in a small body :D

our 5 L129's argue over food - to the point we have to put 5/6 bits of cucumber in so they have one each :)

I think clowns are the same.

make sure there are actual caves and other secluded wood holes etc so they can have one each (and maybe a few spares to keep the peice)
