The correct name is panaque maccus .... peckolitia is a completely different species....

They usually can be brought from most LFS for as little as £5,very common easy to get hold of plec but it requires certain conditions...ie.. bogwood in the tank.

If your requiring a 'clown' plec then there is only one name and that is panaque maccus, will usually be listed as L104 rather than any other number, may also be named as ringlet plec but this isnt very often.

Is there any particular reason you want this actual species?, they are one of the most elusive plecs about with many keepers not seeing theirs for months at a time lol.

Just their size to be honest, I havent really came across any info on them being that shy. I need one that wont go much bigger than 10cm and for it to be quite active I dont like keeping cats that arent willing to let me see them lol Anything you could recommend?

Then a clown plec really isn't what you are looking for lol, they are very very elusive and very often not seen in a suited tank.

The most commonly seen (actively around the tank) species would be a bristlenose, females tend to be much more active around the tank, males tend cave/hide alot more once they mature.

Other than that plecs are hit and miss with there characteristics, ive had many species which would be out and about with many of the same species just constantly hiding.

The most commonly seen part of a plec is there tail lol, this is usually the only thing poking out when there hiding.

Advising a species isn't really the best option, tank conditions will be so much more important with varying species, i guess posting the tank setup, temp, substrate, decor etc etc and then have a look around to what you like and is available to you and then we can tell you if it/they would be suitable for your setup :good:
