My clown loachs have been acting very weird.

I have 6 of them and all of them seem to be all over my larger one. They are all healthy. its like they are trying to how can i put it. (hump). lol dont know how else to put it. Hubby and friends say the same thing.

Is it possible they are. how can i tell?

There aren't many believable reports of Botias breeding in captivity. There is considerable evidence to suggest they migrate before spawning. CL are big fish and in most cases, (with hormone treatment), the breeders are in the over 250mm range.

Hi thanks for replying, Not exactly sure what you mean.

250mm range? migrate before spawning?

Sorry to be a pain.

Thanks

oooh not sure what i should do now??????????

Probably nothing. If it is really spawning, notice that in the PFK report it appears that the fishkeeper interrupted it and ended up with unfertilized eggs.

The only thing I can think of is that most of botia breeding reports indicate heavily planted tanks. You cannot really plant the tank now (if yours is not), but adding a large chunk of something like Java Moss may possibly do so good.

How large are your clowns/tank?

Considering these fish get to 30cm i think 15cm would be the smalest they would breed but as we all know these fish are very difficult and with the PFK photo's it all helps and is very interesting to see.

If they are indeed breeding be sure to photgraph every step!

are you sure theyre not doing the famous loachy dance? loaches are notorious for this behavior. you should post videos or pictures - i can almost assure you a diagnosis if you can post a video.
