I have a 10 gal. that is way overloaded with small snails and was thinking of taking one of the Clowns out of my 29 gal and letting him have a buffet for a few days or should I put them both in? One or both would only be in there for about 3 to 4 days and the size of the tank wouldn't matter to them once they noticed all the snails! at least that is what I'm thinking....any info. for this

I hope your committed for a larger tank for the guys say a 75 gallon in the future. Yes you can ad them and take them out after a few days, depending on the size I would go a few hours.

Yes you can do that, but plan on getting a 75 gallon tank pretty quick

Oh, there are plans in the making for a 100 gal., my Macaw parrot passed away about 2 months ago so I will be putting the new tank where his cage is, anyways the loaches are going for a buffet now!!!! thanks for your input

pretty quick - my backside!

hey are very slow growers taking MANY years to reach a size that will cause problems!

we've had our clowns for 18months now and they have grown... a whole 1" (if that)

The guy didnt even ask anything about their size and i'm sure everyone will have already drummed it home in any other post where the name mentions 'clown loach'

/Rant off

Back to the actual thread!

We used to use 2 of our clown for the very same purpose - they would be in our 15 gal for about a week to clear snails... we got brassed off in the end and got some smaller ladder loaches (4" max) that also eat snails - these now live in the tank perminatly

The clowns will be absolutly fine in there for a while - ignore those that like to flame ;) :flex:

Keep your backside out of this

I say pretty quci because if they stay in a small tank to long it will stunt their growth and they will probably stay small even in a large tank.

Is it true Clown Loaches can get out of their tanks? I hear it's a problem and you need a good cover or they will get out a lot etc.
