I just setup and got my first fish for the 75gal tank I have had for a while...ELECTRIC YELLOWS!!

I also plan on getting Pseudotropheus and Aulonocara...

now my question....

Would clown loaches be OK for this tank? Would the cichlids be too aggressive?

My pH sits around neutral (slightly higher than neutral)...

Any comments would be appreciated

i think the clown loach would be ripped to shreds. arent african cichlids brackish? i dont think clown loaches are. tell me if african cichlids can live in neutral freshwater. i would look stuff up about the cichlids u want to get to see if they are aggressive or what. i dont know that much about african cichlids

hey chooklet!

Okay. I have 6 clown loaches in my 180 with 12 frontosa, 2 fryeri, 6 aulonocara hansbaenschi...and many various other cichlids.....and in my 50, I have pretty much all pseudos...which are THE fin nippers of all cichlids IMO...and there are 3 clown loaches in there as well. The difference between the two tanks is that the loaches in the 180 hang out with pretty docile cichlids, so they hide alot....never ever have they had a nipped fin, never. Which brings me to the other side of the story....in the 50 are the psycho cichlids....bite, bite, chase, shake, shake, bite, chase......and the loaches are also without a nipped fin in this tank...the difference is...is that in the 180, the loaches hide and sleep all the time (not scared of course, just lazy bums :p ) aaaaaand in the 50 they are out ALL the time...acting like mbuna. So Chooklet, after all my blab blab blab...you can rest assured that your clowns will be MORE than fine and most likely also VERY active.

Good Luck. :D

Chris.
