Clown Loaches

Hi.
Ive got 4 clown loaches,and ive read somewhere that they sometimes lie on their sides .........why do they do this?
Im sat here right now looking at my tank and theres 3 of them doing it.
2 are led on top of each other,and the other is under the log.
Completely motionless.
Asleep maybe

I don't know why but I've heard of them doing that when the sleep.

lying on thier sides. lying nearly upside down.
Lying basically belly up under the lip of the fish tank.
lying tail down with their bodies up the walls of the tank. Yeah just about every position that would make a hobbist gasp and think thier fish is dead. then you look at em and they take off swimming.

Now I think the clowns are teaching my cories their tricks. Yesterday I found my cory lying almost on his side suspended in the plants....and he was perfectly fine.

i've heard their antics is what got them their name... they act so clownish

I had a platy that thought he was a clown. He used to lay in the middle of them

my albino cory's favorite sleeping place is on a water lily leaf, sleeps there almost all the time

i read on the internet that they do this,they also swim upside down at the surface of the water at feeding times to catch all the food,and can lay motionless for hours,and they are also known to make clicking noises

its a loach thing! our yoyos do the same, you see them lying on their sides & sometimes completely upside down all the time.... i think they just like to get comfy when they chill out..............they think - sod the bobbing around in the water like most other fishes do to rest id quite like to get ours a little sofa
