I currently only have one CL (i know i need more) when i bought him i didnt know that they needed to be in a school. Anyway I know that they can get fairly large so how many if any can i keep in a 10gal because thats the only size tank i have aviable at the moment.

Jesse :fish:

Temporarily only the one you have
can you not rehome or relocate him?

Ya, I can ill just have to save up a lil money and buy a bigger tank so he can have some mates i guess, what size tank do you think i would need?

i'd go for a minimum of a 55G right now, that should work for a few years with a small group. but eventually they'll need an even bigger tank as they grow to over a foot

Hmm 55 huh i was really hoping for a smaller tank. I guess he wont get any friends till my community tank is up and running.

i saw a school of 6 all of witch where larger than 10 inches just yesterday.... i didnt ask the lady how old they where but they where the bigest ive ever seen... there tank hadto have been atleast 130gal..... but yeah go with a 55g for now.

EDIT: it was at a local petshop... im gonna get pics when i go back.

I have 3 in a 20G with nothing else in there. They're tiny, only about 2", and seem to have plenty of room to either play or hang out alone. I figure in about 6 months I'll be moving them to a 30G and eventually a 120G. If you don't want to have to keep buying new tanks I would also recommend a 55G. Mind you, they do grow pretty slowly, but slowly and steadily. They're huge buggers!
