:D HELLO EVERYONE

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT MYSELF 3 BABY CLOWN LOACH FOR MY 34 GALLON TANK

I KNOW THEY ARE PRONE TO WHITE SPOT AND AS THEY HAVE NO SCALES YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFULL WITH MEDICINE ETC

BUT DOES ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAVE ANY GOOD ADVICE FOR ME ON KEEPING THESE FANTASTIC FISH

IF SO IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

THANKS IN ADVANCE

DAREN

clown loaches prefer dim light aquariums and you should make or invest in a little cave as they like to rest in them, they are one the best freshwater fish to keep IMO!!, they will give you hours of entertainment, food wise they love sinking pelets and also frozen bloodworm, they prefer a soft substrate as they rummage about to find their food, another thing is your water as clown's are scaleless any ammonia will burn the loach very easily so make sure your parameters are all normal

Good Luck :D

clown loaches are beautiful & we really wanted some for our tank but just had to be realistic - they do grow very big quite quickly & need a mega tank to be happy. we just dont have the space!! unfortunately. but enjoy yours!!!! :)

Hi Daz,

Join the club, I    my clownies!!

Definitely do as loachylover says and provide them with as many hiding places as possible, they will squeeze themselves into the tiniest hole all piled in together and they love it!

I vary the food of mine between tubifex worm and bloodworm, they seem to go for variety more than anything. Also, on birthdays, christmas etc ;) , treat them to a few aquarium snails (live), they will love you forever!

I currently have three but hope to get more once I have a bigger tank - they like to be in an odd number apparently so I'm hoping to have 5 or 7 eventually.

Mine developed ich a few weeks after arriving but I treated with protozin (half dosage because they're scaleless) and they did just fine.

I found this website to be REALLY helpful - enjoy and good luck with keeping these beautiful fish!
