Clown Loach Meds

Hi all,
I recently had an outbreak of internal bacteria disease which wiped out my Plattys and Serpeas. I did medicate the water but noticed on the label it suggested adding salt as this would help. I have a couple of Clown Loachs , which, after looking on the Internet weren't going to like salt being added, so I didn't.
The question is this, are there any other types of water treatment to avoid which may be harmful to the Clowns as I believe they are quite sensitive.

Be careful using ich meds as well. normally use at 1/2 strength for scaleless fish and tetras. You can use salt and raised temp to treat ich in clowns.
