I just woke up this morning and 1st thing i do is check my tank and feed my fish. I noticed my 6" clown loach stuck in a small ornament i have in my tank for my smaller fish. He usually hangs out in his large castle and only comes out to eat and comes out at night when the lights off. not sure why he thought he could fit through this small hole. His head was out of the ornament and his mid section was stuck. There was a cloudy slime coming from his body and covering the ornament. I put my hand in there and pushed him backwards and he then got out and flew back to his castle. My concern is that where he was stuck there is no color on his body . Looks like a white circle going around his mid section right where he was stuck. He is breathing rapidly also, but seems to be doing fine other than that. Should i put any medicine in the water to help him heal or let him be. I have Melifix on hand. My other fish i have are 4 calico fantails,4black moores, 1 clown loach,2 plecos,2 bottom feeders(not sure what there called), 2 large angel fish,2 tiger barbs,1 black tetra. Not sure if Melifix will affect any of my other fish, especially my 2 Angels. Its a 55 gallon tank. I just dont want him to die on me. i have had him for over a year now. I did remove the ornament he was stuck in also.

Thats why their called clowns ;) -_-

If you have melafix then I'd put a treatment in, its supposed to be good for stress as well and won't harm your other fish. I'm a fan of this pruduct and allways have some to hand - besides that it smells nice!

Hope he recovers quickly.

Let us know how he gets on

:)

Well this morning my clown loach passed away. The injury must have been too much for him. I am very bummed out. :( Its so sad when you get a fish when they are just but an inch in length and watch them grow for over a year into this beautiful 6 inch loach. Makes me not want anymore at all! :-(

:( sorry to hear that amityv...

Clown loaches are a great entertaining fish though.

They should be kept in groups and I think you have one left? - so I'd recomend getting some more.

:)

I am sure that i will get more, Just kinda bummed me out for the time being because he was one of my favorite fish that i have. I would have never thought he would try to get into a tiny ornament used by small fish or i would have never put it in there. Kinda feel like its my fault ya know.

Thanks for writting me back :)
