Hi all,

Im new at this, but i really need some answers. I've got 2-3inch 4 clown loaches with 4 red eye tetra placed in a 125L tank. Its power filtered, temp kept at 29 degree celcius and aerated.

I introduced the tank with a couple of chinese algae eater last week (in hope that theyll help with the hair algae growing in the tank), and today i only found one swimming. Its a lid closed aquarium and i checked the filter but hes nowhere to be found. My question is, has he been eaten?

I did caught the clowns myslef in a nearby stream.

Anyway, the water turned cloudy this morning and i changed 50% water, it looks fine, for now.

Also, anyone can suggest a good pleco to be placed with them?

clown loaches are pretty easy going and i have no trouble with my clown loaches and my one chinese algea eater.Chinese alea eater's can get quite aggressive as they get older and will chase your other fish but have never had trouble with the both toghether. Only one problem with the fish that you have are that they are going to outgrow your tank.
Clown loaches need large tank's at least 4 foot but more like a 5 foot tank also the algea eater will get rather large mine is about 8 inches long now and if you were to add a plec most grow hugh.Your tank is to small for all those fish if you are serious about keeping them you should look into getting a bigger tank. But best of luck with your fish clown loaches are one of my favourite fish.

gt question about clown loaches is there anyway i could get three in a 110 litre without them bieng unhappy? are there any smaller versions of clown loach or any alternitive

Wooo... thats a relieve, i thought they ate each other up, still didnt solve the mystery though, i have one missing chinese algae eater somewhere.

Reading the forums brought me to a good mood on upgrading my tank :)

Any suggestions? 4foot tank with an underwater filter, heater, ooooh... how about the setup? should i go for a natural scene? or one of those bright coloured scene?

To be precise im living in Sarawak, Malaysia. Caught them in a nearby stream to our house there.

Aside the loaches, i also caught some alien parasite lookalike fish, i think theyre called neogastromyzone, or something. Also in the net was some wild bettas. Id post the pic if i had a camera :p

3 should be fine, just that they wont play around that much, i have four and theyre swimming happily with other danios and red eye tetra. Make sure they got place to hide and some places where they can squeeze into. And sand or small pebbles so that they can dig around and lay around.

(in hope that theyll help with the hair algae growing in the tank),

I've found that hair algae is due to high phosphates, lower your phosphates and the hair algae should go too.
