Would a clown loach present any danger of latching on to a bichir causing slime coat removal, or any other danger to the bichir for that matter? I ask becasue I've heard plecos can do that to bichirs.

Clowns are fine with bichirs.

But note that you shouldn't keep "a" clown loach; they are highly social fish, and you certainly need at least three, and ideally 5 or more, for them to be happy.

If you don't have space for a group of clown loaches (they do get quite big) then there are other loaches that would work great with Senegal bichirs and other small bichirs. Good choices would be Acanthocobitis rubidipinnis and Botia almorhae, both of which are relatively small, so keeping them in groups would not be problematic.

Cheers, Neale
