I am thinking about putting one of these in my 125 gallon tank once i am done cycling. I was wondering what type of swimming habits they have? Do they swim near the top, middle, bottom or all? Are they very active or do they just hide? What have you guys experienced?

stick to mid bottom levels.
Nocturnal, but still comed out when lights are on, appreciates dense plant cover.

I wouldn't reccomend one for a 125 unless you are planning on setting up a larger tank to suit it's needs. These can get to 3', but usually stop at 2' in captivity.

Nothing really prohibits clown knife fish, they tend to swim midlevel with their faces angled downwards to pick off prey. Their dappled markings help them blend in to plants and the big thing to note is that they appreciate company, i've read that they are patriachal (one male to a large group of females) but have never been fortunate enough to test this theory, i have had the pleasure of two of these bests, and occasionlly they would fight like cat and dog!
They are more active at night tho and are really aggressive hunters with a mouth almost as deep as they are (remember they become big and hunch backed)
