Clown Knife Question!

Any chance of a picture?

It could be a cyst or a worm/parasite of some form.

Also how big is it and in what size tank? Are you aware what beasts they become when they get to 3 feet long?

one spot is about half an inch and the other one is about a 1/4 inch, my friend said it might be itch, could it be from the feeders i put in his tank?

and yes i am quite aware of how big they get, hes about 7 inches now and i have him solely in a 30g tank, i wil be purchasing a 150 g in the near future, about 2 month or so

trying to get some pictures of her white-spots but shes a bit camera shy right now and i dont want to stress her out trying to get a picture of her.

if the spots are that big no way are they going to be a white spot parasite. If you have been using feeders it could well be another type of parasite. It's very possible that one of your feeder fish had parasites that are exposing themselves as a cyst on your Clown knife.

From what i can see they look like burns from the heater which is a common problem with large nocturnal fish which often wedge themselves behind heaters to hide. I would recomend buying a guard to place over your heater and treating the tank with melafix to help cure up the wounds.

i'd agree with that, looking at the shape of the burn at the top it looks like it's been resting against a heater.

Yours is a Black Ghost Knife, they can attain 18 inches and so need fairly good sized tank mates as well as a minimum tank size of 4ftx18 inches.

The one this thread is about is a Clow Knife, even bigger at up to 36 inches, and will eat most fish that arent at least half its body length. We had a 10/11" one at work that we had in with cichlids that were about 3-4" and it started snacking on them. Decided to move him into a a different tank once we found it swimming about with a cichlid hanging out of its mouth..
