I know this topic is discussed a bit and I replied to an old post saying my newly aquired knife had been eating however he hasn't. I've had im about 4 weeks and he gets the food in his mouth and then frustratingl;y spits it out. His body is getting pinched and I fear it is too late. I have kept one of these fish successfully before and had no probs with food at all.

I've raised temp to about 81 and feeding live brine, bloodworm and frozen mysis bloodworm and tried small lancefish but to no avail.

Any tips ould be very welcome although I feel as this may be too late. Its so frustrating when yo get the odd fish like this.

I used to feed mine prawns (frozen kind from the supermarket, defrosted first of course). Just make sure if he doesn't eat them fish them out later as they go off pretty fast. The main reason I have found that fish go off their food is due to poor water quality, might be time for a clean.

Good luck

You would think that, but there is only a black ghost knife in there thats been in there for months about 5 inches long,a couple of hillstream loaches and 10 cardinal which I took out into another tank which he never touched. I've probably been over vigilant with the water changes to be honest

I had this with fire eels a couple of years ago. I bought two 10 inch fire eels and one flourished and have now looking very grand and eat straight away whereas the other didn't touch any food until he eventually wasted away. so frustrating!!!
