HI magee! Welcome to TFF! And i hope u learn alot! And have a good time!

Id recomend reading all the pinned topics in the Saltwater sections, link below, because saltwater is very demanding, costly hobby but weel worth the effort.

Research is the key, and anyone u ask will say, always read up before you start, because in saltwater, there is always something to gain from other's experiences.

Hope u ask many more questions once you have your head around the basic key concepts of salt water! Goodluck!

Well first off, the Sea Horse and clown fish won't mix. Clowns are too fast and too rowdy for the sea horse. Sea horses want light movement and a very very calm environment. My clowns are constantly darting about playing, or in search of food. They only seem to stay still when it's night and sleepy time.

Sea horses really and truly have to have a specialized species tank to care for them properly. It's not a beginner's task.

U will agree with ckltcows comments about the seahorse and also add that seahorses like to have things to grasp onto with their tails. as you have mentioned that you want corals in your tank they will use the corals as an obvious handle to holdonto... unfortuantely most corals like this will badly sting seahorses so for these 2 reasons i would advise against it.. (plenty of others reasons also... flow being another etc...)

Welcome to TFF anyway, please keep the question flooding in, we are all here to give assistance from the experiences we have had.

o ok thanks for the great advice, i have done some reading on starting a small marine tank and as all experts in these says it looks like hard work but i am wiling to take it on since my dad is a marine biolagist.

so the sea horse are a bad idea then, because i was wanting ish in the tank too,
is there any other fish thank can go with the clown fish or just keep it at that.
thanks frazer

It depends on what size tank you want to do.

If you want to do a 10g tank, then you should stick with just the 2 clowns.

If you wanted to do a 20g tank, you could add in a goby or firefish or something similar, maybe 2 other fish, depending on what specifically you were looking for :)
