Just wanted to know if it would ok for my two young but not mated clownfish would do well in a 20 gallon tank?

Depedning on the type of clown, I think 20G would be a decent sized home for 2, although tank height, length and width would be helpful.

It isn't 20g at 2ftX1ftX1ft, it's 12g or 58l before displacement. It's tight, but OK for smaller clown species IMO, though many will dis-agree with me

It's definitely 20 g. all the measurements were eyeballed. The fish seem to be doing fine. But neither of them are hosting the anemone in the tank.
The anemone keeps shrivling up and then reopening. a little curious on what the problem is?

wow a nem in that small of a tank is NOT a good idea. Please consider researching and then upgrading your tank or rehoming. The easiest bubble tip nems can easily fill a 29 usg when grown and fully expanded. 29g being about 30"x12"x18". That nem will CRASH the tank when it dies.

I agree, 12 g without displacement - then with displacement, 11 g

Too small even for the smallest clowns imo - although some would argue the rule of 20cm, as clowns they say rarely go further! Well, I would argue with that - taking my clowns from the nano (which i consider big enough at 26 g,) and watching them buzz about the five footer was a joy to see

i think he needs a 30gal for 2 clownfish :p

Well funny thing is all the fish in the tank are doing fine and look extremely healthy!
And i promise the tank is 20 g!!!!!!

I have to agree with Seffie on this one. I had a pair of clowns in a 15g (IMP) and they "did fine" (except one that got eaten by a crab, they where healthy and growing). However when I upgraded to a 30g there was a massive change in behaviour, they swam around all over the place and where a LOT more active. Now in the 5ft its just the same. its true that my older perc never goes too far from whatever she is hosting at the time but my smaller one is constantly on the move around the tank.

Hang on, 2ftX1ftX1ft means 60X30X30cm. To work out volume in liters, you multiply them together and divide by 1000. I make that 54l. There are approximately 4.5 liters in a gallon, so that's 12 gallons.

Length in inches X Width in inches X Depth in Inches divided by 231 = Volume in gallons.

1 ft= 12 inches so

24 x 12 x 18= 5184 5184/231= 22.44

so 22 US gallons

l-2ft w-1ft h- 1 and a halfish hahah

They're "fake" percula.

24 x 12 x 18= 5184 5184/231= 22.44

Ah, see, that's why your value is wrong. The OP's tank is 2ftX1ftX1ft. You are calculating the volume of the tank kj23502 recommended the OP got for a pair of clowns ;) The OP's tank is 12g, the recommended is 22g
