Hello fishkeepers,

I just installed my 30 gallons aquarium,
Containing 3 cichlids (red, blue and stripped purpule grey ), not sure of the exact names,
and one clown loach fish,

1st of all i have a problem with feeding the clown,
he's either hiding or dancing, when i give some sinking flakes for bottom fish ( omega 3 and spirolina ) he wont even see it, same with the blue cichlid guy, he doesnt like the pellets im offering as the other two guys,

and 2ndly ive heared that the clowns would like to live with thier same species group, so i decided to bring a new fish primarly for the clown to feel a little more happy and maybe he will eat !!
So any suggestions plzzz for feeding and for clown - cichlid mix tank ???

Clown loach do not really like flaked food, its too soggy once its reached the bottom and they do need to live in a group of clown loach, plus they get massive. I cannot guess the cichlids from your description so I would rather not suggest cichlid foods without knowing. As for the clown loach I use JMC catfish pellet, tetra prima and a larger catfish pellet for them, something that is fast sinking that does not break up into a mush at the bottom before they find it.

I would rehome the clown loach.

They get to 2 feet long and 10 cm in diameter.

they are too big for the tank..
And kindly identify your cichlids please.

We cant recommend cichlid foods as star said. Why? cichlids are in every continent except antarctica and europe.

They need different water requirements and need a varied diet.

And I think a 30 gallon would be too small for all of those fish

Hey there,
sorry for not being specific,

My fish names are as follows:

red peacock cichlid
blue peacock cichlid and
electric blue cichlid

that was 2 days ago, and yesterday i got 3 others as a present :

black Melanochromis Auratus
yellow melanochromis johanni
and labidochromis perlmutt

and if my tank is small, now its smaller with the 3 new ones :( , they seem ok with the hiding places and no fighting ( so far )
the black Auratus was showing off his muscles and aggressiveness on first hours of introducing to the tank, but now it seems to be peace,

for the loach i feel that he has his own world just hiding and dancing sometimes, but still not eating, i will go today to find that recommended food for the loach,

and i have a problem with the electric blue guy, he is not eating at all !!!!!just spitting ,,

The loach food should be sinking food or algae discs.

Be careful with auratus, they are one of the most aggressive cichlids out there.

And I suggest you rehome the clown loach

they grow this big:
